JSW Steel announced consolidated crude steel production of 27.03 lakh tonnes in August 2025, marking a 17% year-on-year increase. The company continues to operate at a high capacity utilization rate of 95% across its Indian operations.

On 30th August 2025, JSW Vijayanagar Metallics Limited (JVML), a wholly owned subsidiary, commissioned its second converter, bringing the company’s domestic crude steel capacity to 34.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). With this addition, JSW Steel’s entire Indian capacity is now fully operational.

As the flagship company of the US$23 billion JSW Group, JSW Steel has grown into one of India’s largest and most diversified steel producers. From a single manufacturing unit, the company has scaled to a consolidated crude steel capacity of 35.7 MTPA, including 1.5 MTPA in the United States.

Its Vijayanagar plant in Karnataka is India’s largest single-location steel production facility with a current capacity of 17.5 MTPA. Looking ahead, JSW Steel aims to expand its total capacity to 43.4 MTPA over the next three years.

JSW Steel’s strategic partnership with Japan’s JFE Steel provides it with access to cutting-edge steelmaking technologies. This collaboration enables the company to deliver high-value special steel products tailored for critical sectors including construction and infrastructure, automotive, electrical applications, and consumer appliances. With this alliance, JSW strengthens its position as a global leader in advanced steel solutions.

Over the years, JSW Steel has earned widespread recognition for its responsible business practices and commitment to sustainability. It has been honored as a Steel Sustainability Champion by the World Steel Association for seven consecutive years (2019–2025).

Reinforcing its global leadership, JSW Steel’s SEED (Sustainable Energy, Environment & Decarbonisation) project was recognized as an Energy Transition Changemaker at COP28, underlining its role in accelerating industry-wide decarbonization.

The company has also established ambitious long-term environmental goals. These include a 42% reduction in CO₂ emissions from steelmaking by 2030, achieving net-zero emissions across all directly controlled operations by 2050, and transitioning to 100% renewable energy for its steelmaking operations by 2030. In addition, JSW aims to ensure no net-loss of biodiversity at its sites by 2030 while enhancing air quality, reducing water consumption, and achieving Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) across facilities.

Beyond technology and sustainability, JSW Steel is also known for fostering a strong and inclusive workplace culture.
