JSW MG Motor India Launches ‘MG Select’ for Better Access

JSW MG Motor India announced facility modifications at its Halol manufacturing plant to increase production capacity for its all-electric crossover utility vehicle, Windsor, and to prepare for upcoming models under its premium retail channel, MG Select. With Windsor surpassing the 15,000-unit production milestone, the company is scaling up operations to meet growing demand.

However, the ongoing facility modifications are expected to cause a temporary production slowdown in February, potentially impacting wholesale numbers. The Halol plant, which currently has an annual capacity of over 1 lakh units, is set to expand to 3 lakh units by 2027 as part of JSW MG Motor’s long-term growth strategy.

As part of its diversification strategy, the company plans to launch two premium electric models in the first half of 2025 under its ‘accessible luxury’ brand channel, MG Select. The upcoming lineup includes the MG Cyberster, an all-electric roadster designed for high performance and sleek aesthetics, and the MG M9, a sophisticated three-row electric limousine that combines luxury with cutting-edge technology. Both models were unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in January.

Biju Balendran, Deputy Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India, stated: “We are expanding capacity at Halol to meet Windsor’s rising demand while also modifying the facility to accommodate new products under MG Select, launching later this year. As a result, we anticipate a temporary production slowdown in February.”

Balendran highlighted Windsor’s success, attributing it to its competitive pricing, features, and consumer-friendly initiatives such as Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), a buyback program, and a lifetime warranty. “As we expand our portfolio, we remain committed to delivering high-quality electric vehicles to our customers at an accelerated pace,” he added.

Established as a joint venture between SAIC Motor and JSW Group in 2023, JSW MG Motor India is committed to developing a sustainable automotive ecosystem with a diverse product portfolio. Its Gujarat manufacturing facility has an annual production capacity exceeding 100,000 vehicles and supports 6,000 jobs. The company continues to drive innovation with advanced technology and localization efforts to enhance its offerings in India.
