JSW Infrastructure (JSWIL), India’s second-largest private port operator and a key entity of the JSW Group, has announced an ambitious plan to boost its cargo-handling capacity to 400 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) by FY30. The expansion will be driven by a ₹30,000-crore capital expenditure over FY25-30.
The strategy includes both brownfield expansions and greenfield developments. Existing ports at Jaigarh, Dharamtar, and Goa will see capacity upgrades, while new ports are planned at Jatadhar, Keni, and Murbe. The company is also enhancing its logistics operations, bolstered by the acquisition of Navkar Corporation and a slurry pipeline project, to provide seamless end-to-end logistics services.
JSWIL has diversified its cargo mix significantly, with third-party cargo contributing 48% of total volume in the first half of FY25, up from just 5% in FY19. The company aims to achieve an equal share of cargo from its group companies and external clients, ensuring long-term stability and profitability. In line with its commitment to sustainability, JSWIL has pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve net-zero carbon neutrality by 2050, reinforcing its role in addressing climate change.
Rinkesh Roy, Joint MD & CEO of JSW Infrastructure, highlighted the company’s focus on building an integrated ports and logistics ecosystem aligned with India’s infrastructure goals. He expressed confidence in delivering sustained value for stakeholders through these growth initiatives.
Lalit Singhvi, CFO & Whole-Time Director, noted the company’s robust financial health, which enables it to pursue its expansion plans without external borrowing. This solid financial foundation will support its capacity growth and acquisitions in the years ahead.
