JSW Energy Signs Agreement for Battery Storage Project in Rajasthan

JSW Energy has declared that its subsidiary, JSW Renew Energy Thirty-Seven, has agreed with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL) to establish a large-scale battery energy storage system within the state. This project will possess a capacity of 250 megawatts and will be capable of storing up to 500 megawatt-hours of electricity. It will be executed under a build-own-operate model, with financial assistance provided through viability gap funding. The agreement spans 12 years, featuring a monthly tariff of ₹2,24,000 per megawatt.

Through this initiative, JSW Energy’s overall committed energy storage portfolio has expanded to 29.3 gigawatt-hours, comprising 2.9 gigawatt-hours from battery storage systems and 26.4 gigawatt-hours from pumped hydro storage. The company aspires to achieve a total storage capacity of 40 GWh by the year 2030.
