JSW Energy Adds 281 MW of Renewable Capacity in Maharashtra

JSW Energy has successfully commissioned a 281 megawatt (MW) renewable energy project in Maharashtra, comprising 215 MW of solar and 66 MW of wind power. This development enhances the company’s ability to leverage the peak wind season and strengthens its contribution to India’s growing renewable energy sector.

Following the new addition, JSW Energy’s installed renewable capacity now includes 3,482 MW of wind, 1,968 MW of solar, and 1,391 MW of hydro. Renewables now account for 55% of the company’s total installed capacity.

In a related development, JSW Renew Energy Three, a wholly owned step-down subsidiary of JSW Energy, has entered into a 25-year power purchase agreement with Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd. The agreement covers 250 MW of STU-connected wind energy, to be supplied at a tariff of ₹3.65 per kilowatt-hour. The project, also located in Maharashtra, is slated for commissioning within the next two years.

JSW Energy currently has a total generation portfolio of 29.9 GW, which includes 12.5 GW in operation, 12.4 GW under construction across wind, thermal, and hydro, and a project pipeline of 4.9 GW. The company has outlined a goal of reaching 30 GW of installed power generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage by the fiscal year 2030. As part of its long-term strategy, JSW Energy has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
