JS Auto Cast Foundry, a subsidiary of Bharat Forge, has announced plans to invest ₹67.5 crore to expand its foundry unit in Perundurai, Tamil Nadu. The initiative aims to boost production capacity of grey and SG iron castings by over 60%, with funding sourced from internal accruals and debt.

A pre-feasibility report has been submitted seeking environmental clearance for the project, which will see the plant’s capacity rise from 72,000 tonnes to 116,000 tonnes annually. The expansion will include the installation of new induction furnaces, sand processing equipment, blasting machines, and related infrastructure.

The investment is driven by growing demand for high-quality castings in domestic and export markets, particularly in the automotive, OEM, and engineering sectors. Grey iron castings remain the dominant segment in India’s steadily growing foundry market.

The Perundurai unit, operational since December 2019 at the SIPCOT Industrial Growth Centre in Erode, is set to create 200 direct jobs and another 200 indirect opportunities. With over 40% of its revenue coming from exports, the company emphasizes self-reliant production without import dependency.

JS Auto operates three facilities in Tamil Nadu, including its primary foundry at Perundurai, a machining and dispatch unit in Kuppepalayam, and an SEZ facility acquired in FY2023. Bharat Forge acquired JS Auto in July 2022 for ₹346 crore. The company reported revenues of ₹345 crore and profits of ₹18 crore for the nine months ending March 2023, following a 60% growth in FY22 revenue.

JS Auto Cast Foundry, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bharat Forge, is a leading manufacturer of raw and machined ductile iron castings catering to prominent global and domestic brands. Headquartered in Tamil Nadu, the company operates three advanced facilities, including its flagship foundry in Perundurai, a machining and dispatch unit in Kuppepalayam, and a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) unit acquired in FY2023.

Established as a key player in the foundry market, JS Auto specializes in producing high-quality grey and SG iron castings, meeting the demands of sectors like automotive, OEM, and general engineering. With a strong export presence contributing over 40% of its revenue, the company is poised for growth, driven by investments in capacity expansion and a focus on self-reliant, import-independent production. Acquired by Bharat Forge in 2022, JS Auto continues to scale operations and strengthen its market position.
