Josler Energy, a prominent player in oil exploration and production, announced on Monday a new collaboration with Heath Consultants, Inc. and Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) under the US-India Low Emissions Gas Task Force (LEGT). This strategic partnership is set to bring advanced gas leak detection technologies to IGL’s vast gas distribution network, which covers Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

According to the terms of the collaboration, modern gas leak detection solutions will be implemented throughout IGL’s distribution infrastructure, making it more efficient and safer. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IGL and Heath Consultants at the GASTECH 2024 conference in Houston marks a critical step forward in reducing methane emissions within India’s natural gas sector.

The agreement is aimed at strengthening public safety across the extensive IGL network by minimizing the risk of hazardous gas leaks. The partnership underscores the growing importance of environmentally responsible practices in the energy sector. Heath Consultants, an industry leader with over nine decades of experience, will work closely with Josler Energy to enhance IGL’s operational safety and sustainability efforts.

Josler Energy will be responsible for providing technical support, field expertise, and comprehensive training for IGL employees, ensuring they are fully equipped to use the cutting-edge leak detection technologies introduced under this agreement. Josler Energy’s track record of success in gas leak detection strengthens its role in this partnership.

Since 2019, the company has surveyed more than 20,000 kilometers of underground pipelines across India, identifying and preventing potentially catastrophic leaks. This proactive approach has helped to safeguard public safety, protect the environment, and save financial resources that could have been lost due to undetected leaks.

Sudhanshu Mehta, Chairman and Managing Director of Josler Energy, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration. “Partnering with Heath Consultants, a global leader with over 90 years of experience, is a vital step in our mission to make India’s natural gas infrastructure safer, more efficient, and environmentally sustainable,” he said.

Mehta emphasized that this partnership aligns with Josler Energy’s commitment to leveraging the latest technology and best practices in the field to address the challenges of climate change and infrastructure resilience. The collaboration is expected to yield numerous benefits, including the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, enhanced operational efficiency, and the bolstering of India’s natural gas infrastructure for long-term sustainability.

These improvements will not only contribute to public safety but also support India’s broader environmental goals. This partnership aligns closely with the Indian government’s agenda for building a cleaner and greener energy future. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues to advocate for the reduction of the country’s carbon footprint, collaborations like this serve as key steps towards meeting those objectives.
