As one of the leading authorities in the creation of smart, healthy, and sustainable buildings, the company has a mission to redefine the performance of structures for the benefit of individuals, communities, and the environment.
With a history spanning nearly 140 years of innovation, Johnson Controls presents a vision for the future across various industries, including healthcare, education, data centers, airports, stadiums, manufacturing, and more. This vision is realized through OpenBlue, the company’s comprehensive digital offering.
With a workforce comprising 100,000 experts distributed across over 150 countries, Johnson Controls holds the portfolio of building technology, software, and service solutions. Leveraging the expertise of trusted industry names, the company remains focused on delivering state-of-the-art solutions that contribute to the creation of sustainable and intelligent built environments on a global scale.
Rajeev Samanta, General Manager, Sales – South Asia, Security Products, Johnson Controls India, expressed pride in introducing these state-of-the-art domestic security cameras, emphasizing their commitment to the Make in India initiative.
Mr Samanta further observed that with over 75% of local components, the Illustra Standard Gen3 cameras not only showcase dedication to self-reliance but also solidify Johnson Controls’ role as a key player in global manufacturing. He sees this launch as a pivotal step toward enhancing security and propelling India towards technological prowess, aligning with the country’s aspirations.
In recent years, the security and safety sector has experienced significant growth due to the widespread adoption of surveillance systems. This spans from home security to enterprise applications in warehouses, manufacturing plants, and large offices, as well as large-scale public use in transportation hubs and smart cities. The Indian CCTV market is projected to reach USD 10.17 billion in 2029, growing at a CAGR of 20.60%, with the consumer market for surveillance products witnessing a sharp 48% YoY rise in Q1 of 2023.
Unlike other sectors like Telecom and IT, the Indian video surveillance market is relatively fragmented, necessitating products with a range of features tailored to end-users’ needs. Given the reliance on global markets for surveillance products, there is an increased emphasis on domestic production. This is particularly critical for applications in government enterprises and smart city projects, mandating the use of domestically developed solutions and products.
The launch of the Illustra Standard Gen3 line is a significant stride in strengthening the domestic manufacturing ecosystem to meet the surge in demand. These cameras, developed by Johnson Controls India’s local engineering teams in collaboration with global teams, offer robust security measures against potential vulnerabilities and unauthorized access. The comprehensive line includes access control, video surveillance, cloud solutions, and intrusion detection, addressing security needs across industries.
Johnson Controls India’s security products division expanded its domestic manufacturing capabilities in 2023, having consistently deployed solutions across various Indian industries for over two decades. Sectors benefiting from their solutions include aviation, education, roadways and transportation, and healthcare. The company aims to further broaden its portfolio of cameras and security solutions manufactured in India, encompassing access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.
In addition to serving the Indian market, Johnson Controls aims to cater to global markets such as the Middle East and Latin America. This reflects the broader objective of the company to not only contribute significantly to India’s security industry but also extend its impact globally.
