JML Expands Chennai Plant to Boost Production and Sustainability

JML

JCBL Marrel Tippers Limited (JML), a leader in manufacturing specialized trailers, POL tankers and bowsers, special application export-oriented containers, and components for the US & European markets, is expanding its manufacturing facility in Oragadam, Chennai. This strategic expansion, a part of JML’s growth strategy as a JCBL Group company, reflects its commitment to meeting increasing customer demand while emphasizing sustainable manufacturing practices.

The expansion will increase JML’s production capacity by 25%, enabling the company to better serve a broader range of sectors including Defense, Automotive, Navy, Railways, Construction Equipment, Petroleum Transportation, Mining, Power Transmission, and Earth Moving Heavy Fabrication Components. This diversification will allow JML to cater to a wider customer base and will result in the creation of 200 new local jobs and opportunities for around 40 new suppliers in Tamil Nadu.

With more than 60,000 square feet of new facility space added to its existing 1 Lakh Square Feet, JML is also planning a further 50,000 square feet for the next phase of expansion. The company’s long-term vision includes reserving approximately 6 acres of open land for upcoming projects scheduled for FY 2025-26.

The upgraded facility will feature advanced technologies such as laser cutting, robotic welding systems, CNC machining, airless painting technology, and heavy-duty EOT cranes. These upgrades aim to enhance operational efficiency and maintain JML’s reputation for delivering high-quality products.

Incorporating sustainability is a key aspect of this expansion. The facility currently operates on a 300KW solar power system, generating approximately 1,350KW of energy per day. JML is planning to add a 1200 KW solar power system to increase green energy generation to 6750 KW per day. Additionally, the plant will include a Water from the Air System capable of producing 1500 liters of water per day for captive consumption, further supporting the company’s green manufacturing goals.

JML has also dedicated 30% of the plant area to greenery, supported by an efficient water management system. The Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) produces nearly 6KL of water daily, which is effectively utilized across the green belt, ensuring sustainability and self-sufficiency in water requirements.

“At JML, innovation and responsibility go hand in hand,” said Rishi Aggarwal, Managing Director of JCBL Group. “This expansion is more than just scaling up production; it is about creating a sustainable future for the automotive industry. By integrating green technologies and adopting the Lean manufacturing principle, we aim to meet growing demand while minimizing our environmental impact.”
