Anant Mukesh Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), and Murray Auchincloss, CEO of bp, inaugurated the 500th Jio-bp pulse electric vehicle (EV) charging station on Thursday. The station is located at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai, serving visitors to Jio World Plaza and Jio World Convention Centre.
Jio-bp, a joint venture between Reliance Industries and global energy company BP, has rapidly expanded its EV charging network across India, increasing from 1,300 to 5,000 charging points in just one year. The majority of its stations, around 95%, offer fast charging, making it the leading provider of high-speed EV charging with a reliability rate of 96%.
The company is also the first in the industry to introduce top-rated 480 KW chargers, ensuring efficient and quick charging at key locations such as malls, corporate parks, public parking areas, and hotels. Jio-bp’s growth aims to reduce range anxiety, shorten charging times with DC fast chargers, and enhance customer experience through its Jio-bp pulse app.
Anant Mukesh Ambani highlighted it’s role in driving EV adoption in India, stating that with the largest share of fast-charging stations and the fastest-growing infrastructure, the company is providing a comprehensive and digitized charging solution to millions of EV users.
Murray Auchincloss, CEO of bp, added that EV charging is a central part of bp’s transition to becoming an integrated energy company. By leveraging the combined strengths of bp and Reliance, Jio-bp is delivering fast and convenient EV charging solutions in key locations across India.
Jio-bp is also advancing towards green mobility by incorporating solar energy from Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd’s power plants, aligning with its goal of promoting sustainable transportation. With its expanding network and focus on sustainability, Jio-bp is solidifying its position as India’s most reliable and widely available EV charging provider.
