Jindal Stainless, India’s largest stainless steel producer, has supplied high-performance 301N austenitic stainless steel for the Bangalore Metro Phase 2 project, furthering its contribution to the nation’s urban transport infrastructure. The newly inaugurated Yellow Line, part of this expansion, was formally launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Earlier this August, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) inducted three trainsets from the CRRC–Titagarh Consortium under Phase 2 operations. In total, 53 trainsets will be delivered, underscoring the scale of Bengaluru’s rapidly expanding metro network. To date, Jindal Stainless has supplied 1,031 metric tonnes of 301N stainless steel for the project, with additional deliveries scheduled as construction progresses.
The supplied material is being used in metro coach roofs and structural components. Known for its superior strength-to-weight ratio, high corrosion resistance, fire and crash safety, and reduced carbon footprint, 301N stainless steel ensures durability and sustainability for modern metro systems.
Commenting on the milestone, Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director, Jindal Stainless, said: “We are proud to support the modernisation of India’s metro infrastructure, a vital pillar of urban mobility and sustainable development. The use of 301N stainless steel enhances safety, longevity, and environmental responsibility, aligning with the vision of building resilient transport systems. Through our contribution to the Bangalore Metro, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainable urban mobility in India.”
