Jindal Group Enhances Cement Production Capacity to 7 Million Tonnes Per Annum

Jindal Group announced the inauguration of a new cement grinding unit in Odisha with a capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum (MnTPA) as part of its ₹2,200 crore expansion strategy. The company stated that its subsidiary, Jindal Panther Cement (JPC), has successfully launched the first grinding unit, which emphasizes its commitment to producing low-carbon cement.

This facility will utilize approximately 1 MnTPA of blast furnace slag, a by-product from the steel manufacturing process. JPC aims to increase its production capacity at its plants in Angul and Raigarh to 7 MnTPA from the current 1 MnTPA, supported by an investment of ₹2,160 crore.

Designed with low-carbon technology, the grinding unit will source slag from the nearby Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) plant in Angul. JPC CEO Rohit Vohra expressed that the opening of the Angul grinding unit represents a major advancement toward a sustainable future, with plans to serve the growing demand in central and eastern India through their eco-friendly cement initiatives.
