Jindal Advanced Materials Signs Billion-Dollar Deal with MAE for Carbon Fibre Plant

Carbon-fiber

Jindal Advanced Materials (JAM) has entered into a partnership with MAE, an Italian specialist in chemical fibers, to establish a cutting-edge carbon fiber facility in India. The investment for this venture is estimated at Rs 2,700 crore. This collaboration, which was formalized at the JEC Paris event, will result in the development of a state-of-the-art plant with an annual capacity of 3,500 MT.

The facility will produce a wide range of intermediate products, including prepregs, fabrics, and composites, to cater to various industrial needs for lightweight carbon fiber solutions. JAM’s ambitious plan includes the production of low-to-high-tow carbon fibers. They aim to expand their capacity to 10,000 MT by 2027.

By leveraging MAE’s expertise, the facility intends to ensure seamless execution, demonstrating a strong commitment to excellence and innovation in the field. With a projected timeline of operations starting within the next 30 months, the project encompasses the entirety of the value chain, starting from the production of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) precursor to the manufacturing of carbon fiber intermediates.

This collaboration is in line with India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, aiming to advance the country’s carbon fiber industry. The initiative not only addresses the increasing domestic demand for carbon fiber but also aims to raise the standards of global carbon fiber production. Jindal Advanced Materials, a part of the O.P. Jindal Group, is a leading global player in the field of advanced materials and engineered solutions.

With a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, Jindal Advanced Materials offers a wide range of products and solutions for various industries, including aerospace, defense, automotive, and infrastructure.
