JBM Electric Vehicles, a division of the Indian industrial group JBM, has officially marked its entry into the European market with the introduction of its ECOLIFE electric city bus at the UITP Global Public Transport Summit 2025 held in Hamburg. The launch was led by Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman of the JBM Group.
The ECOLIFE bus is designed for urban transit and can travel up to 400 kilometers on a single charge. It supports rapid charging and includes a lightweight stainless-steel frame, modular battery systems, and a permanent magnet synchronous motor. Key features also include regenerative braking, advanced telematics, and environmentally friendly interiors crafted from recycled materials.
To support its European expansion, JBM EV has established a regional headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany. This office will oversee activities such as sales, service, marketing, and partnerships. Daniel Frade has been appointed to lead these efforts as Director of Sales, Marketing, and Aftersales for Europe.
As part of its rollout in Germany, JBM has teamed up with local leasing firm KazenMaier to supply over 100 electric buses. The collaboration aims to promote sustainable mobility by offering integrated solutions that combine vehicles, charging systems, and financial services.
Safety is a major focus of the ECOLIFE platform, which includes advanced systems like ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems), collision and lane departure alerts, blind spot monitoring, fire safety systems, and intelligent speed regulation. JBM also presented its broader E-Verse ecosystem at the summit, showcasing its internal capabilities in charging infrastructure, battery development, and service networks. The company currently operates one of the largest electric bus production facilities outside of China, based in India, and has experience deploying over 11,000 electric buses worldwide.
So far, JBM EV’s vehicles have logged more than 165 million electric kilometers and transported over 1 billion passengers. The company is targeting an expansion to 3 billion kilometers and 10 billion passengers in the coming years. These goals align with several UN Sustainable Development Goals, including those focused on climate, health, and resilient urban infrastructure.
