The Maharashtra government is in talks with Japan’s Horiba Group to establish a semiconductor unit in the state. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that land has been identified in the Butibori industrial estate in Nagpur for this project.
Horiba India recently opened a new facility in Nagpur on July 6, focused on manufacturing medical equipment and consumables. This is the largest medical equipment and haematology reagent manufacturing unit in India, set up with an investment of Rs 200 crore, and will supply critical equipment to 30,000 diagnostic labs across the country.
The Horiba Group operates in various sectors including automotive emission testing, medical diagnostics, semiconductors, and scientific analytical equipment. The company has two other manufacturing units in Maharashtra, located in Pune and Nagpur, and another in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.
Horiba India Chairman, Jai Hakhu, emphasized the importance of Nagpur with the new plant and hinted at further investments, including the semiconductor facility. Horiba Group CEO, Atsushi Horiba, was present in Nagpur for the plant’s opening.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, speaking at the inauguration, expressed the desire for more investments in the Butibori industrial estate, which is one of the largest in Asia.
