Jakson Green, an energy transition company, has achieved a global milestone by synthesizing methanol from CO2 emissions at NTPC’s Vindhyachal Thermal Power Plant. This pilot project, which marks the first time methanol has been produced from carbon dioxide captured from a power plant’s flue gases, was awarded to Jakson Green by NTPC.

The innovative process captures CO2 directly from the plant’s emissions and converts it into methanol, a cleaner alternative fuel that can be used for power generation and transportation. This breakthrough holds the potential to provide cleaner fuels and play a significant role in reducing carbon emissions.

Bikesh Ogra, CEO and Managing Director of Jakson Green, emphasized the significance of the partnership with NTPC in bringing this transformative project to life. He noted that this marks the first-ever production of methanol from captured carbon, setting a precedent for India’s green molecule sector.

EKS Sreekumar, Head of Strategy at Jakson Green, mentioned that the company served as the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) provider for the project, which was completed within 12 months of being awarded.
