ITPO to Create Digital Facades at Bharat Mandapam Ahead of BRICS

The India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) is developing large-scale digital facades at Bharat Mandapam to showcase the cultures of BRICS nations during the upcoming summit and create a permanent digital platform for exhibitions and events. The initiative will use LED mesh systems and projection technology on the facades of two exhibition halls. ITPO has appointed experiential technology company Tagbin as the technology implementation partner for the project.

During the BRICS Summit, the digital facades will present visual content based on the culture and heritage of participating countries. The displays will feature traditional art, monuments, landscapes, cultural patterns, living heritage and contemporary achievements.

The project is aimed at extending cultural and visual engagement beyond the exhibition floor and using the architecture of Bharat Mandapam as a medium for storytelling. The LED mesh systems will be integrated with the buildings to create large-format displays while retaining the architectural character of the venue.

Jawed Ashraf, IFS, Chairman, ITPO, said, “Bharat Mandapam has emerged as a platform where India engages with the world. With this digital façade initiative, we are extending that experience beyond the exhibition halls and into the architecture itself. During BRICS, our endeavour is to create a powerful visual celebration of the cultures of participating nations, while building a digital infrastructure that can continue to serve exhibitors and visitors for years to come.”

ITPO plans to retain the digital infrastructure after the BRICS Summit for use during exhibitions, conferences and other events. Exhibitors will be able to display approved event identities, campaigns, brand films and other digital content on designated facade surfaces for a fixed fee.

The platform is expected to provide exhibitors with additional visibility outside their exhibition areas while creating an additional revenue stream for ITPO. Its use can extend from exhibition branding and corporate communication to public information, cultural presentations and curated digital art. The project is also intended to provide event organisers with another communication platform within the venue. Content displayed on the facades can be aligned with the events and programmes being held at Bharat Mandapam.

As the implementation partner, Tagbin will work on the experiential design, digital technology and storytelling elements of the project. The company will translate the content and visual requirements into displays integrated with the architecture of the exhibition halls.

With the initiative, ITPO is adding a permanent digital communication facility to Bharat Mandapam while using the venue’s facades for cultural presentation during international events such as the BRICS Summit. The infrastructure will subsequently support exhibitors, organisers and other programmes hosted at the venue.
