ITI Cuttack Introduces Competency Based Curriculum with Drone Piloting Skill Training Programme

ITI Cuttack has been an exemplary pioneer of innovation and strategic education amidst the ongoing COVID-19 among Indian ITIs under the Principal Dr. Hrushikesh Mohanty, a visionary in developing the inquisitive minds of young India. ITI Cuttack has made to the headlines once again with their visionary resolution to introduce drone training for engineering students.

ITI Cuttack had urged the Government of Odisha for introducing Competency-Based CTS Curriculum for Remotely Piloted Aircraft/drone pilot under the Aerospace and Aviation sector in Government ITIs of Odisha. Aiming for a shift in a more solution-based education, Dr. Mohanty has gladly announced the approval of their petition. A letter circulated by Govt. of Odisha, Skill Development and Technical Education Department verified the training and trade of drone pilots.

The Odisha Govt has introduced the Drone Piloting Skill Development following Covid-19 and the circulated letter noted that skilled manpower is the utmost need in futuristic trade followed by the global market. The importance of skill development and re-Skilling and up-skilling individuals remains the main criteria for employability and exposure to international job market.

Currently, ITI Cuttack and ITI Bhubaneswar have got clearance for Drone Pilot training. From both these institutions total 40 students will be undergoing the skill trainingfor Drone Piloting

The pandemic and nation-wide lockdown has resulted in complete topsy-turvy in industrial sectors. The training will be specifically curated to make the students skilled for agricultural sector for surveillance, security, and maintenance purposes. The engineering students getting their hands-on drone pilot training would be encouraged and engaged along with a zeal for innovation.

Both ITIs are looking forward to take necessary actions to initiate the trade and training of Drone Pilots and the process completion will be in the academic session of 2020-21.
