IPL Biologicals, an agro-biological company, has entered into a significant agreement with the Gujarat government to establish a cutting-edge facility involving an investment of Rs 400 crore. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalized with the state government agency, Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission, in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The primary objective of this collaboration is to set up a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the production of biofertilizers, biopesticides, biofungicides, and microbial growth promoters.
According to a statement released by the company, the substantial investment of Rs 400 crore signifies IPL’s intends to promoting eco-friendly farming practices while concurrently enhancing soil and environmental health. This initiative aligns with the national goal of transitioning to organic and sustainable agricultural practices by 2030, as per the company’s statement. The proposed facility is envisioned to play a pivotal role in fostering sustainable agriculture practices. IPL Biologicals aims to leverage this collaboration to contribute significantly to the national agenda of adopting organic and sustainable agricultural practices within the next decade.
The company highlighted that the focus of the first phase of production at the facility will be on agriculture products, with subsequent phases involving the production of probiotics and enzyme products. A key aspect of the project is the emphasis on reducing chemical usage in the agribusiness sector, thereby aligning with the broader goal of ensuring safe and sustainable food production globally. The development and operational commencement of IPL Biologicals’ agro-biological production facility are slated for mid-2025. This project is expected to generate over 500 direct and indirect jobs, contributing to economic development in the region.
