Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha (IPICOL) the single point of contact for all industrial investments in the state of Odisha organised a national seminar on making Odisha the East’s Textile Hub.
Captain Dibya Shankar Mishra, Hon’ble Minister of Industries MSME, Energy & Home, Government of Odisha, stressed Odisha’s industry readiness, saying, “We have more than 1.5 lac acres of land ready to be used by the industries coming down to Odisha.” Odisha has a long history in textile and global trade, not just in recent years.”

“Our government has emphasised this industry in this regard, and is seeking mega-investments from large textiles and apparel firms,” he continued. The Odisha government is debating a unique incentive package for big investments in the Textiles and Apparel sector, which includes technical textiles. I’d want to invite industry leaders from throughout India to visit Odisha, and we’ll be there to support you.”
Principal Secretary Industries Hemant Sharma mainly highlighted the recent development of the state due to the move towards industrial development. He elaborated upon the important factors that made Odisha the manufacturing hub of the East, such as Odisha’s strategic position in the ASEAN region, industrial infrastructure, highly skilled manpower and particularly proactive governance.
Upendra Prasad Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, addressed the august gathering and detailed the latest Central Government programmes, as well as the areas where India-based firms might focus in order to thrive in this sector.

Leading national and international companies such as Shahi Exports, Aditya Birla Fashion, Page Industries, and Wild Lotus spoke at the seminar about their experiences in the state and how factors such as highly skilled manpower, proactive governance, on-time and hassle-free delivery of promised incentives, and state-of-the-art infrastructure are assisting them in scaling their businesses. They have also agreed to consider Odisha for future greenfield expansions and project diversification.
The Seminar was also attended by domain leaders such as Bhilosha Industries, Vardhman Textiles, Dixcy Textiles, Indorama Industries, and Shubhalakshmi Polyesters.
Shri Debasis Sen, Director, Planning and Business Development, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Shri Dhananjaya Srivastava, Executive Director (Petrochemicals), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), and Ms Shubha Sarma, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Department, Government of Odisha, were among those who spoke.
