Leading chip maker Intel has announced the appointment of Santhosh Viswanathan as the Managing Director for its India region business, a move aimed at capitalizing on the country’s burgeoning growth and business opportunities.
In March, Intel unveiled India as a distinct region within its Sales, Marketing, and Communications Group (SMG) organization, signaling its strategic focus on the Indian market’s rapid expansion. Viswanathan, who previously served as Vice President and Managing Director for Intel’s India region, will now helm the newly formed region, leveraging his extensive expertise to drive value and customer-centric initiatives, the company confirmed.
Viswanathan brings a wealth of experience to his new role, holding an engineering degree in industrial engineering and management, as well as a master’s degree in business administration. In a statement, he expressed his commitment to fostering closer collaboration with customers, particularly leveraging India’s robust engineering talent pool.

“By creating a separate region, we are enabling our teams, including our strong engineering base in India, to work closely with our customers,” remarked Viswanathan, underscoring Intel’s dedication to enhancing customer engagement and innovation.
In addition to Viswanathan’s appointment, Intel also announced the selection of Hans Chuang as the General Manager of SMG Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region. Chuang, equipped with a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from McGill University, will spearhead Intel’s business operations across APJ. His responsibilities include driving revenue growth, fostering collaboration within the local ecosystem, and nurturing relationships with existing customers and partners.
Chuang emphasized the importance of Intel’s partnerships and its commitment to building an open ecosystem to support customer needs transparently and securely. “Leveraging the strength of our partners and continuing our commitment to building an open ecosystem that serves our customers transparently and securely is going to be key to our long-term success here in the APJ region,” he affirmed.
These strategic appointments underscore Intel’s unwavering focus on enhancing its presence in key growth markets like India and APJ, as the company continues to innovate and collaborate with stakeholders to drive technological advancements and business growth in the region.
