INOX India Limited has made history by becoming the first Indian manufacturer of cryogenic equipment to achieve the IATF 16949 certification for cryogenic fuel tank production. Announced on February 24, 2025, the certification, granted by Bureau Veritas Certification, covers both the design and manufacturing processes of vacuum-insulated cryogenic fuel tanks at INOX India’s Kalol facility in Gujarat.

The IATF 16949 certification, a standard required by automotive OEM suppliers, opens doors for INOX India to tap into both domestic and international markets for heavy-duty vehicle fuel tanks. This certification, based on ISO 9001 standards, aligns with the specific needs of the automotive sector.

Deepak Acharya, CEO of INOX India, highlighted that this certification reinforces the company’s ability to meet the rising demand for alternative fuel solutions, particularly for LNG-powered vehicles. The certification process included an extensive audit, which examined every aspect of both the design and manufacturing processes.

Known globally as INOXCVA, INOX India has become a key player in cryogenic technology. The certification solidifies its role as a trusted supplier to automotive OEMs during a time when the industry is shifting toward greener fuel options.

As the automotive sector increasingly embraces alternative fuels, LNG has emerged as a strong contender, especially for heavy-duty vehicles. The IATF certification ensures that INOX India maintains high standards across its global supply chain, providing reliable, consistent products.

This milestone comes as the automotive industry faces growing pressure to adopt cleaner fuel alternatives, with LNG offering a transition to lower-emission solutions for heavy vehicles compared to traditional diesel. INOX India Limited is a prominent player in the industrial sector, specializing in the manufacturing and supply of cryogenic and gas processing equipment. The company has established a strong presence in the LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) infrastructure space, providing solutions for storage, regasification, and distribution of LNG.

Known for its cutting-edge technology and commitment to sustainability, INOX India plays a vital role in the development of energy infrastructure both in India and internationally. The company designs and manufactures a wide range of cryogenic tanks, pressure vessels, and related systems, which are crucial for industries such as power generation, chemicals, and logistics. INOX India is also expanding its reach into the mini-LNG terminal sector, having secured significant projects across various global markets, reinforcing its position as a key contributor to the growing demand for LNG solutions.
