Infineon has launched OptiMOS™ 7 80 V, a new advanced power MOSFET technology with increased power density, available in a versatile SSO8 5 x 6 mm² SMD package, ideal for 48 V board net applications in demanding automotive systems like EVs, electric power steering, and battery switches

Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) has unveiled its latest offering in advanced power MOSFET technology, the OptiMOS™ 7 80 V. The IAUCN08S7N013, the inaugural product in this line, boasts a notably higher power density and is presented in the versatile, robust, and high-current SSO8 5 x 6 mm² SMD package.

This new OptiMOS™ 7 80 V release is tailored to meet the requirements of upcoming 48 V board net applications. It has been meticulously crafted to deliver the high performance, quality, and resilience essential for challenging automotive applications such as automotive DC-DC converters in electric vehicles (EVs), 48 V motor control (e.g., electric power steering), 48 V battery switches, and electric two- and three-wheelers.

In comparison to its predecessor, the Infineon IAUCN08S7N013 boasts a more than 50 percent reduction in RDS(on), setting a new industry standard with a maximum of 1.3 mΩ. This advancement translates to minimized conduction losses, superior switching performance, and the highest power density available in a 5 x 6 mm² package.

Additionally, the IAUCN08S7N013 features low package resistance and inductance, along with a high avalanche current capability. Specifically designed for automotive applications, it undergoes an extended qualification process that surpasses AEC-Q101 standards. Embedded World 2024 is scheduled to be held in Nuremberg, Germany, from April 9 to 11.

Infineon is set to showcase its range of products and solutions geared towards decarbonization and digitalization at hall 4A, booth #138, both physically and virtually. The company’s representatives will conduct various TechTalks and deliver presentations at the concurrent Embedded World Conference, which will be followed by interactive discussions with the speakers.

Infineon Technologies AG stands as a prominent global semiconductor pioneer in the realms of power systems and IoT. Its product range is pivotal in propelling decarbonization and digitalization. With a workforce of approximately 58,600 individuals worldwide, the company amassed a revenue of roughly €16.3 billion in the fiscal year ending 30 September 2023.
