Indkal, the official licensing partner for BLACK+DECKER and Acer, is aiming to increase local production, with plans to achieve 90% localisation in manufacturing by the end of the year. Currently, 70% of Indkal’s products are made in India.
Anand Dubey, CEO of the company, highlighted the company’s commitment to localisation and value addition, noting that the company already manufactures its entire product range, including AI-enabled televisions launched in August, within India.
Dubey emphasized the company’s push to increase local component production, particularly in smartphones, smart televisions, and air-conditioners. While certain components are still sourced internationally due to domestic limitations, Indkal is seeing cost reductions of 8-12% as a result of localisation, which is significant in product categories with low margins.
Dubey acknowledged the challenges of local manufacturing, especially due to the limited availability of key components in India. However, he is optimistic that ongoing government efforts to strengthen the supply chain will help overcome these hurdles.
The company also plans to expand its workforce, with ambitions to triple its headcount annually, driven by the company’s accelerating growth. Indkal Technologies is an emerging player in the consumer electronics industry, specializing in smart TVs and home entertainment solutions.
