The Indian Charge Point Operators Association (ICPOA), the country’s first and only industry body focused exclusively on EV charging infrastructure, hosted its flagship event – Bharat EV Charging Conclave 2025 – at The Lalit, New Delhi. The conclave brought together charge point operators (CPOs), charger manufacturers (OEMs), electric mobility service providers (EMSPs), utilities, policymakers, and technology leaders for a comprehensive dialogue on building reliable, scalable, and consumer-focused charging infrastructure to meet India’s ambitious electric mobility targets.
Founded as a Section 8 not-for-profit, ICPOA’s mission is to strengthen collaboration across the EV ecosystem, attract investments, develop actionable policy recommendations, and raise public awareness to accelerate the country’s clean mobility transition. Key initiatives showcased during the event included the Know Your Battery (KYB) campaign to educate consumers, efforts to advance roaming and interoperability across networks, and close collaboration with regulators and government bodies to enable practical, future-ready policy frameworks.
Speaking at the conclave, Awadhesh Kumar Jha, Executive Director of Glida and Chairman of ICPOA, said:
“Charging infrastructure must be seen as the backbone of EV adoption. ICPOA was formed to make charging accessible, reliable, and transparent for all. Our focus is on empowering consumers with confidence, aligning industry and government efforts, and ensuring that EV adoption becomes not just feasible but compelling for every Indian driver.”
ICPOA’s founding members include Glida, ChargeZone, Zeon, EVRE, Magenta Mobility, Jio-bp Mobility, ADOR, Exicom, Tirex, Mindra, Gentari, VNT, Bright Blu, One Plug, Pulse Energy, and Plugzmart. Membership continues to grow as new players join to strengthen India’s charging ecosystem.
The conclave featured keynote addresses and panel discussions on policy design, grid integration, renewable energy adoption, and strategies to improve public charging reliability. Automakers shared learnings from EV deployments, while utilities and energy providers discussed grid readiness and renewable integration.
With India targeting net-zero emissions by 2070 and EV sales crossing 1.5 million units in FY2024, initiatives like ICPOA are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the country’s charging infrastructure and supporting rapid adoption of electric mobility across passenger and commercial segments.
The Indian Charge Point Operators Association is a dedicated industry platform driving collaboration, innovation, and policy advocacy for EV charging infrastructure. It works to boost consumer confidence, ensure interoperability, and enable robust partnerships across the EV value chain.
