Autodesk and Deloitte released a report showing that Indian construction companies are leading in adopting digital technologies to improve project delivery and processes. This move helps tackle challenges like rising material costs, competition, and labor expenses.
The report surveyed 933 construction firms across Singapore, Australia, Japan, India, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. It found that Indian companies are using technologies like Data Analytics, Construction Wearables, Prefabrication and Modular Construction, cloud software, and mobile applications to manage projects better.

Sumit Oberoi from Autodesk said that India’s strong economy makes it the right time for businesses to adopt new technologies, leading the Asia Pacific market in tech investments. He emphasized the need for businesses to start small, choose a digital champion, and track success measures.
The report also highlighted the benefits of AI in improving project efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing client relationships. Indian businesses are also looking to introduce drones and 3D printing into their operations.
David Rumbens from Deloitte said that India’s construction sector, driven by demand for affordable housing and government support, is set to contribute significantly to the economy. He noted that AI adoption in construction is expected to grow rapidly across the Asia-Pacific region.
