Mercedes-Benz India announced on Thursday that India has the potential to rank among the top five global markets for its luxury Maybach brand in terms of sales volume. At the launch of the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV, the company’s managing director and CEO, Santosh Iyer, highlighted the firm’s commitment to leading in digital and electric mobility within the ultra-luxury segment. The new all-electric Maybach EQS 680 SUV is priced starting at Rs 2.25 crore (all India ex-showroom).
Iyer noted that India has already secured a position among the top 10 markets worldwide for Maybach sales, with over 1,500 units sold. He expressed confidence that the country will soon advance to the top five markets, driven by significant growth potential.
Mercedes-Benz is also emphasizing its leadership in luxury electric vehicles (EVs), with its Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) portfolio in India showing consistent growth. The company now offers five BEVs in the Indian market: EQA, EQB, EQE SUV, EQS sedan, and the Maybach EQS 680 SUV.
“The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV represents a new standard in automotive excellence for the era of electromobility,” said Iyer. “This launch underscores our ambition to lead in digital and electric innovation while enhancing our luxury offerings. We believe that true luxury is synonymous with sustainability, and we are committed to developing a robust BEV ecosystem for the future,” he added.
