The National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) and SolarPower Europe have signed a new agreement aimed at boosting solar manufacturing cooperation between India and the European Union. The move is expected to open doors for new business ventures and funding opportunities, while reinforcing the global push for cleaner, more resilient energy systems.
In light of shifting international trade dynamics, this alliance focuses on creating a reliable and diversified supply chain for solar components. The partnership builds on the existing cooperation between the two groups and is formalized through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The MoU is designed to leverage each region’s strengths—Europe’s expertise in high-efficiency technologies and technical support, and India’s rapidly growing domestic manufacturing ecosystem. Together, they aim to develop joint solar projects and unlock investment opportunities in production and supply chain infrastructure.
Beyond business development, the agreement outlines joint efforts to address regulatory barriers that affect access to solar equipment markets. The groups will also work to enhance engagement with policy leaders to drive new areas of collaboration.
“This updated agreement opens up fresh opportunities for European manufacturers, developers, and technology providers, while supporting India’s ambition to scale up its solar capacity,” said Máté Heisz, Chief Operating Officer at SolarPower Europe.
Subrahmanyam Pulipaka, CEO of NSEFI, added, “Our collaboration paves the way for increased innovation, cross-border investments, and a stronger manufacturing base that not only benefits India and Europe, but also contributes to the global clean energy transition.”
This renewed cooperation comes as part of SolarPower Europe’s International Solar Manufacturing Initiative (ISMI), which aims to foster joint ventures and collaborative manufacturing in countries like India—particularly in upstream technology and equipment production.
