Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS), a global leader in port agency and maritime services, has deepened its collaboration with Achilles by adopting the Achilles Maritime Network to strengthen supply chain risk management and ESG oversight across its worldwide operations. With a presence across more than 250 offices in 61 countries, a workforce exceeding 3,200 employees, and operational support covering over 85 percent of the world’s ports, ISS plays a pivotal role in international trade. This scale brings with it a responsibility to maintain robust standards of safety, compliance, and environmental performance across a supplier ecosystem of more than 30,000 partners.
Having been among the earliest maritime companies to join the Achilles Maritime Network as an accredited supplier, ISS will now extend its engagement by using the platform to manage its own supplier base. This will provide a consolidated view of supplier performance and strengthen governance across critical areas such as health and safety, sustainability, carbon emissions, ESG compliance, financial stability, and cyber security.
The Achilles Maritime Network connects over 2,000 vessels, more than 1,200 suppliers, and a dozen major maritime organisations. Designed as a collaborative industry platform, it enables benchmarking, access to verified supplier information, and greater transparency across complex global shipping supply chains.
The move aligns closely with ISS’s ESG priorities outlined in its Responsibility and Beyond Report, structured around People, Environment, and Business Conduct. With supplier activities forming a significant portion of ISS’s Scope 3 emissions, centralising data through a single, continuously monitored platform will support earlier risk identification, improved data consistency, and closer alignment with regulatory and customer expectations.
Simon Potter, Chief Procurement Officer at ISS, said that expanding the use of the Maritime Network will enable closer collaboration with suppliers, consistent application of standards, and measurable progress against ESG commitments. Craig Rodgerson, CEO of Achilles, noted that ISS’s broader participation represents a meaningful step for the maritime community, demonstrating how collaborative supplier assurance can drive real ESG outcomes at scale.
