Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA), a leading ferrochrome producer based in Odisha, has partnered with JSW Green Energy to incorporate renewable energy into its smelting processes. The collaboration involves a hybrid renewable energy project combining solar and wind power.
IMFA has signed a binding agreement with JSW Green Energy One Ltd and JSW Green Energy Seven Ltd, committing ₹83.26 crore to a project that includes 50 MW of solar energy and 100 MW of wind energy, with a total contracted capacity of 70 MW. A 25-year power purchase agreement will soon be finalized, securing IMFA’s position as a captive consumer of this green energy initiative.
Commenting on the venture, Binoy Agarwalla, Vice President of IMFA, said, “This hybrid model of solar and wind energy reflects our commitment to sustainability and aligns with global efforts toward a greener future.”
In addition, IMFA is establishing a greenfield facility with an annual capacity of 1 lakh tonnes at Kalinganagar, Odisha, to enhance its ferrochrome production, meeting rising market demand.
