IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, in collaboration with the Union Education Ministry’s SWAYAM Plus initiative, has introduced a skill-based training program aimed at preparing students for careers in the semiconductor industry.

Targeted at Engineering and Science students and graduates in disciplines like Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Production, the program will be conducted in-person at IIT Madras, providing hands-on training and practical industry knowledge.

This short-term program aims to make participants industry-ready, offering placement support for top performers and equipping them with essential skills for careers in electronics. By combining practical training with foundational theory taught by IIT Madras experts, the initiative encourages students and industry partners to solve real-world challenges in electronics, addressing societal needs and sustainable development.

SWAYAM Plus, a collaboration between the Ministry of Education and IIT Madras, aligns with the National Education Policy’s goal of promoting skill-focused, employability-oriented courses. The program’s objective is to bridge the gap between academic concepts and industry demands, equipping graduates with the skills necessary for India’s growth sectors.

R. Sarathi, Dean (Planning) at the institute, emphasized that the program addresses the gap between engineering coursework and practical application, noting that it aims to strengthen general engineering skills and build practical intuition.

Upon completion, participants will receive certificates issued jointly by SWAYAM Plus, IIT Madras, and IITM Pravartak. Accommodations, including meals, are available on the campus for a nominal fee of ₹650 per day.
