IIT Bombay has unveiled its new e-Postgraduate Diploma (ePGD) in Integrated Circuits (IC) Design, an innovative online program aimed at equipping professionals and students with specialized knowledge in semiconductor technology. The 18-month diploma, developed by the Department of Electrical Engineering, covers key areas such as digital and analog design, mixed signals, wireless communications, and system design. Upon completion, graduates will earn a diploma from IIT Bombay, bolstering their qualifications in the rapidly advancing semiconductor field.
As India aims to become a global semiconductor hub, with over $18 billion invested in semiconductor projects and a goal to reach $500 billion in electronics production by 2030, the need for skilled IC designers is more crucial than ever. This program is designed to meet that demand, supporting India’s efforts to build a robust chip ecosystem.
Prof Shireesh Kedare, Director of IIT Bombay, highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating, “We aim to make learning accessible to a broader group, especially working professionals. Through programs like this, we are strengthening circuit design education, helping professionals enhance their careers in semiconductor technology, and tapping into emerging opportunities in high-performance computing and wireless communications. With India’s growing semiconductor potential, we are optimistic that IIT Bombay can help lead the global charge in this sector.”
The ePGD program is open to engineering graduates and professionals looking to enhance their skills in integrated circuit design. The curriculum includes seven specialized courses, spread over 18 months, and will be taught by IIT Bombay’s esteemed faculty. The program aims to equip learners with world-class expertise that aligns with global industry standards.
