With the rise of height-adjustable desks for ergonomic workspaces, the need for organized cable management has never been greater. The new OfficeChain OCO.32.37.0 from igus provides an effective and sleek solution to prevent cable tangles and tripping hazards. Its straightforward design ensures it integrates seamlessly into various office environments while maintaining an organized look.
Height-adjustable desks are increasingly popular in modern workplaces, with sales climbing steadily over the last three years and expected to grow by 5% annually until 2028. This trend reflects a shift towards healthier and more dynamic working conditions, where users can alternate between sitting and standing to improve well-being and productivity. However, frequent desk adjustments often result in tangled or damaged cables, creating a safety risk.
The OfficeChain addresses this challenge with ease. Its closed, one-sided design keeps cables neatly aligned, while its one-piece construction with concealed connections adds to its clean and professional appearance. “With its tried-and-tested Easy design, users can effortlessly insert cables into the chain and keep them hidden,” explains Kira Weller, Product Manager for e-chains at igus.
The idea for the OfficeChain originated in 2019 when igus partnered with a global office furniture manufacturer in the United States. The client sought a durable and visually appealing cable management solution for height-adjustable desks. Although the pandemic caused delays in development, igus continued refining the product, delivering a final design in late 2022 that met all the manufacturer’s expectations.
The OfficeChain now features brackets at both ends, which can be secured with screws or rubber-coated magnets for added stability. Over the last two years, igus carried out multiple design iterations to enhance the chain’s durability, size, and aesthetics while ensuring compatibility with customer cables. “The OfficeChain OCO.32.37.0 represents a breakthrough in cable management for adjustable desks. It not only ensures functionality but also complements the modern office aesthetic,” Weller adds.
