Sanjay Gupta, the President and CEO of Minda Corporation and Chairman of the Indian Electronics & Semiconductors Association (IESA), has recently taken his social media to express the excitement and honor of participating in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024. Mr Gupta, a key figure in the Indian Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) industry, has shared his insights during a critical panel discussion at the summit, specifically in the session titled ‘Dholera: India’s First Semicon City in Making.’
Indian Electronics & Semiconductors Association (IESA), representing the ESDM sector since 2005, boasts nearly 300 members, including both domestic and multinational enterprises. The association is dedicated to enhancing global awareness of the Indian ESDM industry and supporting its growth through various initiatives, such as publishing credible data, organizing networking events, and forming alliances with international associations. Gupta’s involvement in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit highlighted the strategic significance of India’s semiconductor, displays, and manufacturing industry.
Participating as the Chairman of IESA, Sanjay Gupta described the session as a remarkable experience where industry leaders gathered to shape the future trajectory of India’s semiconductor and manufacturing sector. He particularly highlighted the significance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence at the event, emphasizing the visionary aspects of the Dholera project. The initiative aims to propel India onto the global stage, showcasing the nation’s determination to lead in advanced industries.
During the discussion, Mr Gupta provided comprehensive insights into the semiconductor ecosystem in India. He addressed challenges faced by the industry and proposed strategic pathways for future advancements. Gupta emphasized the importance of creating a robust demand side for semiconductors within India by encouraging the establishment of India-based Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier1 brands.
Covering various critical topics, Gupta discussed hurdles hindering the growth of the semiconductor sector in India and underscored the need for collaborative efforts to overcome these challenges. The discussion also explored avenues for fostering innovation, encouraging investment, and nurturing a skilled workforce to drive sustainable growth in the semiconductor industry.
