The Optical Society of India (OSI) organised International Conference on Optics and Optoelectronics (ICOL-2019) which was held from 19th to 22nd October 2019 at Instruments R & D Establishment (IRDE), Dehradun, India. ICOL 2019, a gathering of the Opto-electronics community in India witnessed optics manufacturers, system integrators and end-users participating organized by the IRDE and Optical Society of India. The latest advances in optics were discussed and an exhibition of over 50 manufacturers and users provided insight into the new developments in the country and on a global scale.

ICOL is an annual series of symposiums organized among the OSI Members, and 2019 edition was its XLIII symposium. The focal theme of the conference was “Trends in Electro-optics Instrumentation for Strategic Applications”. The event was organized to create a platform for interaction among all stake holders in the industry among scientists, researchers, manufacturers, academicians and students across the globe.

ICOL 2019 covered diversified areas in the Optical Engineering, Optical Thin Films, Optical Materials, IR Sensors, Image Processing & Systems, Photonic Band Gap Materials, Adaptive Optics, Optical Image Processing & Holography, Lasers, Fiber Lasers & its Applications, Diffractive Optics, Innovative packaging of Optical Systems, Nanophotonics Devices and Applications, Optical Interferometry & Metrology, Terahertz, Millimeter Wave & Microwave Photonics, Fiber, Integrated & Nonlinear Optics, and Optics and Electro-optics for Strategic Applications. The technical conference included keynote addresses, panel discussions, lectures, oral and poster presentations by researchers across the globe.

We from Microdiamant presented the solutions for Fine grinding and polishing of optics.  The discussions gathered importance with many manufacturers expressing interest in processing high end optics in India and expand their portfolio and technologies.

Founded in 1965, “The Optical Society of India” (OSI) is formed to promote and diffuse the knowledge of optics in all its branches-pure and applied. To encourage, organize and coordinate research activities in the field of optics and to undertake a survey of the optical needs of the country and to enumerate and sponsor schemes for research and development. OSI also promotes the cooperation between designers, manufacturers, and users of optical technology, organize meetings, seminars and conferences on varied aspects of optics, and to co-operate with other scientific organizations in all matters of national scientific importance. For the last four decades ISO has been holding annual national/international symposia. The OSI is affiliated to the International Commission of Optics (ICO) and represents India.
