Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), a premier medical technology manufacturing cluster in India, organised a major Industry–Academia Meet to mark eight impactful years of the Innovation and Biomedical Skill Centre (IBSC). Since its inception, IBSC has trained and certified more than 10,000 candidates, contributing significantly to the growth of India’s biomedical and medical devices workforce. The centre currently delivers over 65 specialised training programmes designed for students, faculty, industry professionals and medical device manufacturers.

IBSC’s courses are accredited by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, underscoring its adherence to nationally recognised quality benchmarks.

“Universities nurture subject expertise, and we channel that knowledge into medical technology. Without academic collaboration, there can be no true MedTech transformation. As healthcare challenges continue to grow, the need for skilled biomedical professionals will only increase,” said Jitendra Sharma, MD and Founder CEO.

Strengthening its academic engagement, IBSC has partnered with over 133 universities and institutions nationwide. On February 16, it signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 72 additional institutions to broaden collaborative efforts.

These agreements will support industrial training, industry-focused curriculum development, plant visits, faculty development initiatives, semester-long exchange programmes, joint degree pathways, and collaborative workshops and conferences—building a strong interface between academia and the medical technology sector.

The Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone (AMTZ) is India’s first dedicated medical technology park, located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Established to reduce the country’s dependence on imports of medical devices, AMTZ provides world-class infrastructure, research facilities, and manufacturing units to promote indigenous production of healthcare equipment. Spread over 270 acres, it houses specialized laboratories, testing centers, prototyping facilities, and incubation hubs to support startups and established companies alike. By offering shared resources and cutting-edge technology at affordable costs, AMTZ fosters innovation, accelerates product development, and strengthens India’s healthcare ecosystem, aligning with the vision of making the nation self-reliant in medical technology.
