Hyundai Motor India announced plans to establish 600 public fast charging stations throughout India over the next seven years to help drive the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). The company also unveiled the Creta Electric in India, priced starting at Rs 17.99 lakh (ex-showroom), marking a significant step forward in its EV strategy.
“We are working to create a strong EV ecosystem and encourage wider adoption of electric vehicles. As part of this, we will set up 600 fast charging stations across the country in the next seven years, with more than 50 already operational in key cities and along national highways,” said Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor India, at the Auto Expo.
The myHyundai app also allows users to access over 10,000 EV charging points nationwide, enhancing the convenience of owning an electric vehicle.
Regarding the Creta Electric, Kim expressed confidence that the vehicle will set new standards in India’s EV market, providing a significant boost to the sector. “The Creta Electric is more than just an SUV. It combines innovative technology, top-tier safety, exceptional comfort, and impressive performance, all while delivering a sustainable driving experience,” he added.
Kim also highlighted Hyundai’s comprehensive approach to its EV product lineup, designed to cater to the varied needs of Indian consumers. “From petrol and diesel to CNG and electric, Hyundai is ready for both the present and the future, with the ability to produce all types of powertrains in-house,” he said.
