The Indian subsidiary of South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Company is set to establish a major testing center in Telangana, featuring a test track and a manufacturing facility dedicated to producing vehicles, including electric models, for testing purposes. This announcement was made following a meeting between Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, and senior Hyundai officials in Seoul on Monday.
The state delegation, led by Revanth Reddy, arrived in South Korea after completing a successful tour of the United States, with the goal of attracting investments to strengthen Telangana’s economy. According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the testing facility is anticipated to draw additional affiliates and suppliers to the area, leading to significant direct and indirect employment opportunities. Hyundai Motor India Engineering Pvt Ltd. (HMIE) will also expand its footprint by renovating and upgrading its existing engineering center in Hyderabad.
This expansion is expected to create further employment opportunities, both within India and across the Asia Pacific region. “India is a crucial market for us, and we are dedicated to developing products and technologies that set benchmarks for Indian customers,” HMIE stated. The company also expressed its appreciation to the Chief Minister for the opportunity to develop cutting-edge testing facilities in Telangana.
Commenting on the development, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy remarked, “The Telangana government has been actively pursuing major investment opportunities from global corporations. Our industry-friendly policies, progressive vision for creating world-class infrastructure, and streamlined permission processes have made it possible for top-tier companies like HMIE to conduct business here.”
During his visit to South Korea, Revanth Reddy also held high-level meetings with CEOs from 25 leading textile companies to encourage investments in Telangana’s growing textile sector. At a business roundtable organized by the Korea Federation of Textile Industry (KOFOTI), Revanth Reddy promoted the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal as a prime investment destination for Korean textile companies. The park, one of India’s largest integrated textile hubs, was highlighted for its strategic location, top-notch infrastructure, and business-friendly environment.
The meeting was attended by prominent industry figures, including Kihak Sung, Chairman of Youngone Corporation, and Soyoung Joo, Executive Vice-Chairman of KOFOTI. The Korean delegation responded enthusiastically to the investment prospects in the state. Revanth Reddy added, “My colleague D. Sridhar Babu and other officials will establish a task force to ensure quick follow-up and prompt action on the ground,” noting that the positive start to the Korean tour was very promising.
Earlier in the day, Revanth Reddy and his team held extensive discussions with LS Corp, one of Korea’s largest industrial conglomerates, formerly part of the LG Group. The talks, which involved LS Group Chairman Koo Ja Eun, focused on potential manufacturing investments in Telangana in sectors such as electric cables, gas and energy, and batteries. “The LS team will visit our state soon at my invitation. I am confident we will soon welcome them to Telangana as an investor,” the Chief Minister said.
