Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has announced plans to increase the representation of women in its executive workforce to 20% by 2030 as part of its efforts to build a more diverse and future-ready organisation. Women currently account for more than 8% of HMIL’s executive workforce, which includes over 4,000 employees. The company is also seeing greater participation from women entering the organisation, with around 45% of Management Trainees and Engineer Trainees recruited in 2026 being women.

The company said the target reflects its focus on creating greater opportunities for women across manufacturing, engineering, research and development, sales, service, corporate functions and leadership positions. Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO of Hyundai Motor India Limited, said diverse teams bring different experiences and perspectives that can strengthen organisations and support innovation.

“At Hyundai Motor India, we believe that bringing together people with different experiences, perspectives and capabilities helps create stronger teams and a more resilient organisation,” he said. “Our commitment to achieving 20% women representation in the executive workforce by 2030 reflects our focus on expanding opportunities, strengthening the talent pipeline and creating an environment where every individual can realise their full potential.”

As part of its long-term workforce strategy, HMIL has developed a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion framework focused on attracting, developing and retaining talent. The company has introduced gender-balanced recruitment practices, expanded campus engagement programmes and competency-based assessment processes.

HMIL is also working to improve career growth opportunities and leadership representation. Women recorded a promotion or elevation rate of 23% during FY26, supported by learning, development and leadership programmes. The company’s Women @ Work 2.0 initiative provides maternity and parental support, childcare assistance, workplace flexibility and employee reintegration programmes. HMIL has also introduced the TrailblazHER Leadership Initiative to support high-potential women professionals through mentorship, capability building and career development.

Its workplace infrastructure includes crèche facilities at manufacturing plants, wellness and relaxation rooms, along with enhanced safety, mobility and support measures. HMIL also runs health and wellness programmes covering preventive healthcare, women’s health awareness, cancer screening and stress management.

Hyundai Motor said these initiatives form part of its wider ESG agenda and support the objectives of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 on Gender Equality and Goal 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth. As India’s automotive sector continues to change through advanced manufacturing, digital technologies and new mobility solutions, HMIL believes workforce diversity will play an increasingly important role in innovation and business growth. By expanding participation across all areas of its business, Hyundai Motor India aims to build a stronger talent pipeline and prepare its workforce for the future of the automotive industry.
