Hyundai Mobis has introduced 65 advanced mobility technologies set to be commercialized within the next two to three years. This achievement stems from the company’s significant investment of approximately 1.7 trillion KRW in research and development, focusing on electrification and electronics.

The unveiling took place at Hyundai Mobis’ ‘2024 R&D Tech Day,’ held at its Uiwang Research Center in Gyeonggi Province. Traditionally an event for showcasing R&D breakthroughs to clients, this year’s Tech Day was opened to external stakeholders for the first time. The event took place at the Electrification Research Building, a specialized facility dedicated to developing next-generation electrification components.

The exhibition featured seven key themes and presented 65 technologies across electrification, electronics, and safety sectors, with 14 world-first innovations. Notably, 21 of the technologies were electronic components, covering areas such as autonomous driving, advanced sensors, parking assistance, next-generation displays, and connectivity innovations.

Among the standout products were a high-performance front radar with a 350-meter detection range, an infrared camera for enhanced visibility in poor weather, generative AI for vehicle care, and a 3D display with a wider field of view. In the electrification sector, Hyundai Mobis presented innovations such as in-wheel motors with crab steering capabilities, advanced drive systems for urban compact trucks, and bidirectional ICCUs with high power density.

In the safety and chassis sectors, Hyundai Mobis introduced groundbreaking technologies, including a passenger airbag designed to reduce brain injuries during accidents, HD LED communication headlamps, a third-generation regenerative braking system, and a rear-wheel steering system. Other notable innovations included nickel-free inductors, ultra-high-speed battery charging cooling technology, e-corner systems for crab steering, and the next-gen M.Vics 4.0 infotainment system.
