Hyundai Motor Company’s Hyundai IONIQ 5 has set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the greatest altitude change by an electric car. The record-breaking attempt was organized by Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and driven by the Evo India professional team.
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 completed a remarkable altitude change of 5,802 meters, starting from Umling La, the highest drivable point in India at 5,799 meters above sea level in Leh Ladakh, and finishing in Kuttanad, Kerala, three meters below sea level. This extraordinary feat was achieved over a span of 14 days, covering over 4,900 kilometers of challenging terrain and extreme weather conditions, showcasing the electric vehicle’s resilience and technological excellence.
The IONIQ 5’s performance throughout the journey further solidified its position as a leader in electric mobility. The car successfully navigated the freezing temperatures of the Himalayas and steep mountain roads, as well as the humid coastal areas of Kerala, proving its durability and advanced capabilities in diverse environments.
