The Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the corporate social responsibility arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), has launched several programs aimed at enhancing healthcare access, economic independence, and job opportunities for women across India. These efforts align with Hyundai’s global vision of Creating Shared Value – ‘CONTINUE’ – and focus on creating lasting social impact.
HMIF’s Sparsh Sanjeevani program has provided medical consultations to 77,231 women through 52 Telemedicine Centres and 10 Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in states including Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat, and Karnataka. The program focuses on screenings, hygiene awareness, and early diagnosis services. Additionally, since 2024, it has held awareness camps on menstrual hygiene, cervical cancer screenings, and maternal and child health, benefiting 4,561 women through early detection and preventive care.
In the area of economic empowerment, the Livelihood Support Program has helped over 750 women in six districts of Tamil Nadu generate an annual income of ₹6.7 crore, indirectly benefiting around 3,000 individuals. The program offers training in various trades such as cattle rearing, financial literacy, tailoring, embroidery, juice-making, and oil pressing. Women involved in the program have seen their monthly household incomes rise by ₹6,000 to ₹8,000.
HMIF has also introduced the Drive4Progress program, which provides driver training and employment opportunities for women. To date, 186 women have been trained as commercial drivers, with 55 securing jobs. Currently, 70 women are undergoing training, and over 50 have received self-defense training as part of the program, boosting their safety and confidence.
Puneet Anand, AVP & Vertical Head – Corporate Affairs, Corporate Communication & Social at HMIL, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to creating opportunities that support women’s financial stability and skill development. He further stated that HMIF’s initiatives aim to foster self-reliance and ensure long-term economic participation for women.
