Hyundai Motor Company and Skoda Group have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on developing a hydrogen-based mobility ecosystem. The agreement was formalized at the Korea-Czech Republic Business Summit in Prague on September 20, with Ken Ramírez, Executive Vice-President and Head of Global Commercial Vehicle and Hydrogen Business at Hyundai, and Petr Novotný, CEO of Skoda Group, in attendance.

The MoU outlines plans to explore the adoption of hydrogen fuel cell systems, implement energy-efficient solutions for mobility projects, and investigate broader opportunities in the hydrogen value chain beyond transportation.

“Our collaboration with Skoda Group is designed to speed up the adoption of hydrogen, contributing to technological advancements and promoting carbon neutrality in global markets, including the Czech Republic,” said Ramírez. “By combining our fuel cell technology with Skoda’s mobility products, we aim to create strong synergies that will drive the growth of the hydrogen business.”

Petr Novotný added, “Hydrogen, alongside energy-efficient technologies, will be crucial in transforming mobility for a sustainable future. Working with Hyundai will allow us to explore new markets and implement innovative, eco-friendly solutions in the global mobility ecosystem where clean energy is most needed.”

Both companies recognize hydrogen as a fundamental part of building a sustainable society, with mobility as a starting point. Under the agreement, Hyundai will consider sharing its fuel cell systems and technology to support eco-friendly transportation in the regions where Skoda operates, including the Czech Republic. The two firms will also conduct feasibility studies to explore additional uses of hydrogen fuel cells beyond the mobility sector.
