Huf, the German-based expert in automotive access and authorization systems, recently inaugurated its new testing and requalification center, the Technical Center India Laboratory (TCIL), at its facility in Chakan, Pune. This development follows the opening of the Technical Center India (TCI) in Baner, Pune, last year, marking a significant expansion in Huf’s engineering capabilities in India. The inauguration ceremony was attended by notable figures including Huf COO Dirk Fischer and CTO Nuna Bogdan, alongside local dignitaries and employees.
Dirk Fischer highlighted the strategic importance of the Indian operations within Huf‘s global framework, noting, “Since opening in Pune in 2008, Huf has established itself as a key player in the industry. With India’s role in our strategic growth plan, we aim to boost our net sales to 2 billion Euros by 2031.” The TCIL, situated within a 350 square meter space with potential to expand by an additional 200 square meters, is equipped to enhance product testing and validation capabilities significantly.
Nuna Bogdan, CTO of Huf, emphasized the role of the new facility in meeting increasing global demands. “The TCIL is pivotal in our efforts to maintain quality leadership while delivering cost-effective innovations to our customers globally,” he stated. The facility will focus on testing and validating a range of products, including car door handles and locking mechanisms, not only for the Asian market but also for global distribution.
Sandeep Chaudhary, Vice President of Huf India, also spoke at the event, outlining the integration of the TCIL into the company’s extensive production capabilities in Chakan, which include die casting, molding, robotic painting, and assembly. “This integration enhances our vertical capabilities in India, allowing for in-house testing and validation of our products,” Mr Chaudhary explained.
The opening of the TCIL is part of Huf’s broader strategy to enhance its global research and development footprint, which includes recent expansions such as the opening of the Technical Center Romania Laboratory in Timisoara. With over a century of innovation, Huf continues to advance in the automotive industry, providing cutting-edge solutions for car access and authorization to OEMs worldwide.
