Honeywell has secured a contract to provide automation solutions for Exide Energy Solutions Limited (EESL), a subsidiary of Exide Industries, India’s largest battery manufacturer. This project will aid in the development of an 80-acre lithium-ion gigafactory in Bengaluru, set to be the city’s first multi-gigawatt-hour lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility.
As part of the agreement, Honeywell will implement its Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI) platform, enabling centralized control and monitoring of building management systems across the factory. This will enhance operational efficiency, improve incident response, and drive energy savings across the facility.
Set for completion in 2025, the gigafactory will produce lithium-ion batteries to meet the growing global demand for electric vehicles. Atul Pai, Vice President and General Manager of Building Automation at Honeywell India, stated, “Our support for Exide Energy in automating their new facility contributes to the efficient production of batteries for electric vehicles. Our integrated solutions will help improve safety and efficiency at the gigafactory, aligning with our commitment to sustainable energy and supporting India’s drive towards self-reliance in critical industries such as electric mobility.”
