Honeywell has announced a partnership with Stereolabs to develop a new mobile solution designed to measure the size, volume, and weight of boxes and pallets with speed and precision. The technology aims to improve truck loading efficiency, reduce shipping costs, and accelerate delivery operations in distribution centers.
The collaboration combines Stereolabs’ stereoscopic AI-powered cameras, which capture accurate product dimensions, with Honeywell’s SwiftDecoder software, which reads barcodes and extracts key information. Together, the integrated solution will give logistics operators real-time visibility into shipments—helping them plan vehicle requirements, optimize space, and maintain full traceability of goods.
“Every box or pallet carries important data, from weight and dimensions to expiry dates and warning labels,” said David Barker, President of Honeywell Productivity Solutions and Services. “Bringing all that information into one system helps warehouses streamline operations. By working with Stereolabs, we are delivering a practical solution that reduces inefficiencies and improves supply chain performance.”
Traditionally, many warehouses rely on manual methods like tape measures and scales, or fixed tunnel systems that process items on conveyor belts. Honeywell and Stereolabs’ mobile alternative offers greater flexibility, allowing operators to measure, capture, and upload shipment data instantly. This enables businesses to make informed decisions on loading, transportation, and de-stocking in real time.
The joint solution integrates Stereolabs’ ZED stereoscopic camera and AI perception tools with Honeywell’s SwiftDecoder barcode-decoding and OCR software. The system automatically records and transfers all data into a central database, providing businesses with a consolidated view of goods moving through their supply chains. “Our collaboration has resulted in an all-in-one data capture tool that combines product dimensions, barcodes, OCR, and imagery in a package that can be seamlessly connected to warehouse management systems,” said Olivier Braun, Chief Product Officer, Stereolabs.
