Honeywell Automation India Limited (HAIL) (NSE: HONAUT) has been awarded the contract to supply its Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) system for the Noida International Airport (NIA). The AGL system will enhance aircraft safety and streamline operations by providing visual guidance to pilots, especially in challenging weather conditions.

Honeywell’s state-of-the-art AGL system uses ‘intelligent lighting’ technology to facilitate smoother ground taxi operations and improve pilots’ situational awareness. This advanced system automatically switches lights on and off, based on data shared by aircraft surveillance and tracking systems with air traffic controllers.

AtulPai, Managing Director of Honeywell Automation India Limited, stated, “Securing this project highlights our commitment to advancing India’s aviation infrastructure with cutting-edge technology to ensure safety and operational efficiency.”

Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Noida International Airport, expressed excitement about the collaboration, emphasizing that the implementation of Honeywell’s AGL system will provide superior visual guidance and enhance overall operational efficiency at the airport.

The project involves the supply, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of the AGL system for runway 10L-28R and the associated taxiways at NIA. Honeywell’s extensive airport technology portfolio and experience in managing end-to-end AGL system operations, including design and service support, make it a trusted partner in this venture.

In its first phase, Noida International Airport will feature a single runway and terminal, with the capacity to handle 12 million passengers annually. Upon full completion, the airport will be able to serve 70 million passengers per year.

Honeywell, a global leader in automation, aviation technologies, and energy solutions, is committed to solving complex challenges through innovation in areas such as aerospace, industrial automation, building automation, and sustainability.
