The Honda Shine has surpassed the Bajaj Pulsar to become the second most popular motorcycle in India for the first seven months of this year. According to data from Jato Dynamics, as reported by Business Standard, the Hero Splendor remains the top-selling motorcycle in the country.
During the January-to-July period of this year, the Honda Shine witnessed an impressive surge in sales, outpacing the Bajaj Pulsar. Specifically, the Honda Shine saw a remarkable growth of 115.3% year-on-year (Y-o-Y), bringing its total sales figures to an impressive 1.047 million units.
This substantial increase has allowed the Shine to climb to the second spot in the motorcycle sales rankings, following the Hero Splendor, which continues to hold its position as the market leader. In contrast, the Bajaj Pulsar also experienced a notable increase in sales.
The Pulsar’s wholesales grew by 47.5% Y-o-Y, reaching a commendable total of 842,693 units during the same period. Despite this significant rise, the Pulsar’s growth was not enough to keep pace with the meteoric rise of the Honda Shine.
The Shine’s ability to achieve such a high growth rate has allowed it to outstrip the Pulsar and secure the second position in terms of sales figures. Additionally, the Unicorn has also made a noteworthy appearance in the sales rankings. It saw a remarkable increase of 117.6% Y-o-Y, reaching 163,090 units from January to July this year.
This substantial growth has enabled the Unicorn to secure the ninth position among the best-selling motorcycles in India. Overall, the sales performance of these models highlights the dynamic nature of the motorcycle market in India. The Honda Shine’s ascent to the second position underscores its growing popularity and market appeal, while the Bajaj Pulsar’s strong performance maintains its position as a major player in the market.
Meanwhile, the Hero Splendor’s continued dominance reaffirms its status as the leading motorcycle in the country. The impressive growth figures for both the Shine and the Unicorn reflect changing consumer preferences and the evolving competitive landscape in the motorcycle industry.
