HOMAG Plattenaufteiltechnik GmbH, located in Holzbronn, has enhanced its production process by integrating advanced adhesive technology from its sister company, Dürr. This collaboration marks a significant step for both HOMAG, a woodworking industry leader, and Dürr, a prominent manufacturer of machinery and plants.
Previously, Dürr’s adhesive dispensing technology was primarily used in the automotive sector. Now, Dürr has adapted and expanded its technology to serve a broader range of industries. Dürr, known for its expertise in areas such as body-in-white and battery assembly, has now introduced its gluing applications to the general industry.
The use of Dürr’s modular product system, combined with standardized operating software, addresses the challenges of component joining in various industries, providing high-quality gluing solutions. “We are excited to have HOMAG Plattenaufteiltechnik GmbH as a reference project,” said Fabian Schilt, Head of the European Industrial Sales Team at Dürr. “This project demonstrates the successful application of automotive-grade technology in the wood industry.”
HOMAG’s horizontal panel saws, known for precise and cost-effective panel cutting, have now been upgraded with Dürr’s gluing technology. Previously, the table tops on these saws were manually screwed and sealed with silicone. To improve precision and consistency, HOMAG opted to automate the process using Dürr’s products.
The company is currently installing Dürr’sEcoRam drum press, EcoShot Meter, and EcoGun2 PVA04 applicator, all managed by the new EcoHVMP4 pump and metering control unit. This automated solution is expected to be operational by early 2025.
Dürr is also introducing its new EcoHVC4 operating software as part of this project. Unlike previous systems, which were customized on a project-by-project basis, the HVMP4 standard allows for modular integration of components through standardized interfaces.
This flexibility enables customers to select from a variety of Dürr adhesive products tailored to their specific needs, ensuring seamless integration and optimized process flow. Dürr will showcase its painting and gluing products for the wood and furniture industry at the HOMAG Treff event in Schopfloch from September 24 to 27.
