Hindustan National Glass & Industries Limited (HNGIL), India’s largest manufacturer of container glass, has appointed Rakesh Mehta as Chief Operating Officer – North, with immediate effect. The appointment comes after HNGIL’s acquisition by Independent Sugar Corporation Limited (INSCO), part of the Madhvani Group, completed in September 2025. The move is aimed at strengthening operational leadership across the company’s northern manufacturing and market presence.

In his new role, Mr Mehta will be responsible for overseeing HNGIL’s northern operations, with a focus on improving plant performance, strengthening supply chain systems, and expanding customer reach. His mandate includes supporting key customers across the pharmaceuticals, liquor, beverages, food, and allied consumer packaging segments.

Mr Mehta brings over 20 years of experience spanning finance, commercial operations, contracts, and regional management. Prior to joining HNGIL, he served as Finance Head – North at Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, a role he held since 2013. He has also worked with Reliance Retail, where he managed finance and operations for large-scale distribution and logistics networks across Gurugram and other northern markets.

Commenting on the appointment, Suraj Mehta, Chief Strategy & Corporate Affairs Officer, said “We are pleased to welcome Rakesh Mehta to HNGIL at a crucial stage following the acquisition. His strong understanding of regional operations and execution will help reinforce our manufacturing base in North India and support our long-term business plans.”

Rakesh Mehta added “I am delighted to join HNGIL at a time when the company is entering a new phase. I look forward to working with the teams to improve operational discipline, strengthen customer service, and support consistent growth across northern markets.”

Established in 1946, Hindusthan National Glass & Industries Limited (HNGIL) is India’s leading container glass manufacturer and a long-standing participant in the country’s glass packaging industry. Following its acquisition by the Madhvani Group through INSCO in September 2025 under the IBC process, the company is operating under renewed ownership and governance, with Kolkata as its operational centre.

HNGIL has a strong manufacturing presence across India, enabling reliable supply of glass containers to major brands in the food, beverage, liquor, beer, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and personal care sectors. Its nationwide footprint allows for efficient distribution and scalability.

With decades of technical capability, HNGIL is now drawing on the Madhvani Group’s global manufacturing experience under the leadership of Chairman Shrai M Madhvani. The company is focused on improving plant reliability, introducing modern production practices, and adopting energy-efficient processes to support customers with consistent quality and dependable packaging solutions.
